Leaders and Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Hendrex as the incoming 3rd ID Command Sergeant Major at an assumption of responsibility ceremony at Marne Gardens, Fort Stewart, Georgia, July 10, 2017.

“Today we officially welcome Command Sergeant Major Daniel Hendrex and his family,” said Maj. Gen. Leopoldo Quintas, the 3rd ID Commander. “He is exactly the right leader at the right time to serve as our 28th command sergeant major of the 3rd Infantry Division.”

Quintas referenced Hendrex’s wealth of experience in armored formations, more than 20 years, including a previous assignment at Fort Stewart.

“Fort Stewart is not new territory for Command Sergeant Major Hendrex,” Quintas said. “He spent four years here as a Desert Rogue with 1-64 Armor in the 1990s, to include a deployment to Somalia.”

“Some of my most important lessons came as a young sergeant right here at Fort Stewart,” Hendrex said. “It’s all about being ready. (Readiness) is everything.”

“Command Sergeant Major Hendrex’s familiarity with Fort Stewart provides him with the unique understanding of how we build deployable combat readiness, how we build and sustain a premier installation for our Soldiers and our Families, and how we continue to strengthen our ties with the community,” Quintas said.

“We were and we still are the armored fist of the XVIII Airborne Corps,” Hendrex said.

“We are excited to come full circle and really look forward to working with those communities supporting our 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers and civilians,” Hendrex added.

Hendrex arrives to 3rd ID and Fort Stewart from the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan where he served as senior enlisted leader.

Now, as the 3rd ID Command Sergeant Major, Hendrex plays a critical leadership role in preparing the division headquarters to deploy to Afghanistan this summer.
