The 2018 Army Emergency Relief Campaign kicked off at Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, Feb. 27 at Club Stewart during the Community Leaders Information Forum.

The Task Force Marne Senior Enlisted Advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. John Johnson, and Fort Stewart Garrison Commander, Col. Jason Wolter were on-hand and became the first community members to demonstrate their support to the effort.

The annual AER campaign runs March 1 through May 15 and allows commanders the opportunity to reinforce a greater awareness of the types of financial assistance available from AER and how it benefits Soldiers and their Families.

“Soldiers helping Soldiers when they are experiencing financial difficulties," said AER cordinator Frederick Sledge. "This year, Fort Stewart's goal is $150,000.  Last year we reached more than $140,000." Sledge added that nearly 3,000 Families were assisted in 2017, with more than $3,500,000 in assistance provided.

The website, at www.aerhq.org, notes AER provides interest-free loans, grants, and scholarships for Soldiers, retired Soldiers and Families. Visit online or call Stewart AER at 912 767-5058 for more information.
