Diamond Elementary holds spelling bee

Diamond Elementary School held a Harry Potter Word Wizard Spelling Bee, May 1, with 11 students from grades 3-5 competing for the title "Word Wizard". 

After a close competition, Mason Anderson, a fourth grade student, was named the Harry Potter Word Wizard, with the winning words “agitated” and “ajar.”  Langston King, a third grade student, earned the second place spot.  Luke Boland was the Word Wizard Master, Ashley Boland was the head judge, and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, Col. Jason Wolter was the time keeper.  

All of the participants did an outstanding job. Anderson as presented the prized Harry Potter Spelling Bee Trophy along with the first place medal and bookmarker. Langston received the second place medal and bookmarker  All other participants received medals and Harry Potter bookmarks. The participants and their families enjoyed a "Harry Potter" themed reception following the event. 

A special thanks goes out to the Diamond Parent Teacher Organization for supporting the event. Marilyn Carter, reading resource teacher, and Ashley Boland, pre-k teacher, were the school sponsors for the event. The participants included Lucas Kratochvil, King, Anderson, Maura Badman, Joshua Moise, Abree Minkler, Denton Hilligoss, Reagan Harper, Julian Strickland, Jovion Murray, and Jalaia Ross.
