GC supervisor engagement forum

The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield garrison commander conducts mandatory training for all garrison civilian supervisors and those in uniform who supervise garrison appropriate funds and non-appropriate fund civilians. While the Fort Stewart event was May 8 and 15; the Hunter Army Airfield training will be May 23 at 9 a.m. in building 1286, room 167 at Hunter Army Airfield.  All supervisors are required to participate and to notify their leadership of the date and time they plan to attend.  The contact is workforce development at


2017 tax assistance available  

The Fort Stewart Legal Assistance Office is offering tax appointments for service members who recently redeployed who need assistance with filing 2017 income tax returns until Friday. Stop by the Fort Stewart Legal Assistance Office, building 709, 1791 Gulick Avenue, to make an appointment.


Safe Ride Shuttle available 

For a worry-free night out in Savannah on payday weekends - check out Safe Ride! Service members can enjoy downtown without asking “should I be driving home?” Only $10 per person (active duty Soldiers only). Picking up at various locations on Fort Stewart, limited space. Super Saver Program

Are you interested in winning $500? If so, this program is for you! Take a look around. Is there something you see that is wasting money? Is it a problem we can solve locally? If you are a garrison civilian employee and submit the best idea for saving the garrison money, you will win $500. Newman basketball courts resurfaced

The basketball courts at Newman Fitness Center will be closed today through May 29 for re-sanding/varnishing. The other areas of the fitness center will be open during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. For more information, call 767-3031.


Online food handlers class 

Anyone interested in taking the food handlers course now has the ability to do it online.  Certification is good for one year.  Register online at, or log on to Click on the healthcare services tab, click preventive medicine and wellness, then environmental health. The basic food handlers course study material and quiz are at the bottom of the screen.


Army food truck is here

FLEP opportunity

Interested in a career as a judge advocate?  Officers in the grade of O-1 through O-3 with two to six years of active duty service are encouraged to apply for the 2018 Funded Legal Education Program selection board.  Applications must be received at the Judge Advocate General Corps  Personnel, Plans, and Training Office  and at Human Resource Center no earlier than Aug. 1 and by Nov. 1. Applicants should schedule interviews with Nancy Seaton, for Septermber.  The selection board convenes Dec. 3-4. Bible study offered

Wednesdays at noon at the Marne Chapel.  This year the focus is, "The Bible and Current Events." Each week we will take a look at the news of the week and how God's word can bring understanding and perspective to what's happening and how we can apply it to our lives.  Military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, retirees and Family members are welcome to attend. Prescribed burns

Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the installation each week. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling through areas that may be affected by smoke. For more information, please contact Amanda Price at 767-2010. Youth volunteers are available

The American Red Cross Summer Youth Program is here! Another summer is approaching and the Red Cross youth volunteers are available to support your activity.The American Red Cross summer youth program runs June 11 through July 27. Our volunteers will be working 15 to 40 hours a week, based on supervisor need.  To request one or more youth volunteers please fill out the needs assessment below and email it to The deadline for requesting youth volunteers is Friday. Supervisors class held

Family fun day at Hunter golf course

Mosquito surveillance now available

Now that it is springtime, US Army Medical Command, Environmental Health will be conducting weekly mosquito surveillance on the installation. Trapped mosquitoes will be used to determine if mosquito control is needed and tested for disease causative agents. Feel free to request that we set up a trap near you, as we make our rounds at 


Marksmanship Unit seeks instructors

The United States Army Marksmanship Unit is currently accepting applications from Active Component NCOs for the Instructor Training Group.  ITG provides marksmanship training and expertise to units throughout the Army. The ITG seeks sergeants through sergeant first class for open positions.  Assignment to the ITG is a three year assignment located at Fort Benning. Visit the following link for more information.

Junior golf at Hunter Golf Course

Four-day golf camp, one-hour sessions for youth 13 and under, held June 11, 12, 13, 14. The cost is $80.


Teen golf at Hunter Golf Course

A four day golf camp, 2-hour sessions for teens  is slated for July 9, 10, 11, 12.  The cost is $120.

Power Outage Exercise  

Plan accordingly! Fort Stewart will hold a Power Outage exercise June 15. Expect the outage to last four hours. Housing areas will not be affected. This exercise will validate our backup power generation on vital functions throughout the installation. This is a Fort Stewart training holiday. The physical fitness centers will open at 10:30 a.m. All AAFES and DECA facilities will open at 10:30 a.m. There will be consolidated child care at Bldg. 5000. Winn Army Community Hospital will remain open during the power outage. No impact to prescription re-fills or appointments.
