Winn suspends enrollment for 65, older beneficiaries

Effective immediately, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity, Winn Army Community Hospital-Fort Stewart will temporarily suspend its future enrollment of Medicare eligible TRICARE For Life beneficiaries at all of its locations. Medicare eligible beneficiaries are defined as patients who are age 65 and older.  When retired service members and their families become eligible for TRICARE For Life, typically at 65, they are no longer able to enroll in TRICARE Prime.

Winn Army Community Hospital made this tough decision due to a variety of factors, such as: (1) We have reached our enrollment capacity, (2) We have had an extremely high turnover of medical providers due to Permanent Change of Station and deployments, and (3) This high turnover of medical providers has impacted our ability to provide timely access in addressing the medical readiness needs of our Soldiers and our eligible TRICARE Prime beneficiaries.

Medicare eligible beneficiaries will still have access to the ancillary services and specialty clinics that are available at the MTF such as: Pharmacy Services; Laboratory Services; Radiology Services; Emergency Room and all specialty clinics based on space available basis.

Winn ACH Health Benefits Counselors are available to help you understand how Medicare and TRICARE work together.  You may reach them at these listed telephone numbers: Fort Stewart counselors:  435-6716 or at Hunter at 315-3646.
