Dexter Elementary remembers 9/11

Bird strikes uncommon on Hunter AAF

As pilots from the 224 Military Intelligence Battalion made their final approach to the Hunter airfield the evening of Aug. 13, a large bird flew into the path of their Beechcraft King fixed-wing propeller plane. The pilots landed safely but the mid-air strike killed the bird and inflicted $50,000 in damage to the aircraft's wing and required it to be out of service 45 days or more for repairs, according to Chief Warrant Officer 3 Kris Phillips, the unit's aviation safety officer.

Warrior Diplomats train in Western Accord 2015

From July 17 to August 2, two members of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 82nd Civil Affairs Battalion, participated in U.S. Army Africa Planning Exercise Western Accord. The exercise, held in the Netherlands, was designed to enhance the planning capabilities, improve partnerships with troop contributing partners and develop future leaders for the multidimensional integrated stability mission in Mali. While participating in Western Accord, Capt. Randell Miller and Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Smith integrated and worked directly with members of 20 different African and European militaries and various non-government organizations and international government organizations.
