WTB recognized with Warrior Care, Transition Program Cadre Award for excellence

One Soldier and two Civilians from Fort Stewart's Warrior Transition Battalion have been recognized by Regional Health Command – Atlantic with the Warrior Care and Transition Program Cadre Award for Excellence. Sergeant 1st Class Jason Schiller, who recently moved from the WTB currently serves with the Georgia Army National Guard, Janet Wagner, certified occupational therapy assistant, WTB, and Crystal Irving WTB comprehensive transition plan management analyst were all recognized with the award.

Imagine a world without bees. Soldier by day, beekeeper by night, Sgt. First Class Shawn Sullivan a US Army Medical Department Activity-Fort Stewart Soldier at Winn Army Community Hospital is doing his part to thwart the idea, and at the same time found a new passion.

Reuniting at Pleasant Grove

Members of Hinesville, Ga. Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Church gathered on the grounds their ancestors settled in the 1800's on what is now Fort Stewart for the biennial camp meeting Saturday Oct. 28. Pleasant Grove was part of the overall Taylors Creek community and was home to a wooden church, and a one-room school house. Residents made their living harvesting the hardwood of the live oak trees, and producing pine resin and turpentine to export for the purpose of shipbuilding.

Woodpeckers fly strong

Several years ago, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Anthony Cucolo, who was then commander of the 3rd Infantry Division was so impressed and proud of the red-cockaded woodpeckers living in the pine forests of Fort Stewart, he jokingly asked if there was a way to put Marne patches on their wings.

ACS activates EFACs after Irma

Army Community Service is known for a multitude of programs, like Family Advocacy, New Parent Support, Relocation, Mobilization and Deployment and the Financial Readiness Program along with others, but late September 13th, after the staff had returned to work, that all changed. William E. Lukens, ACS director, called his staff together and said, "we're activating the EFAC'.

Record crowd attends Winn Baby Expo

As the early morning Georgia temperature climbed into the 90s, eleven hundred moms, dads and grandparents with strollers in tow, stood in a long line, which snaked its way around to the end of Fort Stewart's Club Stewart parking lot. Many in line were eager to see what prizes lay in store for them inside the 7th Annual Winn Army Community Hospital Baby Expo Aug. 12.
