Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation coworkers gathered, Aug. 16, in their MWR conference room to watch Christian Boler receive the Garrison Commander’s Award of Excellence.

No-one was surprised he was selected to receive the award because of the positive impact Boler has had on the organization since his arrival.

The Fort Stewart Garrison Command Team of Col. Jason Wolter and Command Sgt. Major Rebecca Myers presented the award to him.

“This is the third time he’s received an award in the short time he’s been with us,” said Carly Michael, Non Appropriated Funds Support Division Chief. “Christian never says I can’t or I won’t. He is always willing to do the footwork. He embodies the definition of leadership and deserves to be recognized due to his tremendous stewardship of resources, positive attitude, continuous process improvement, and personal initiative.”

Boler served four years in the military and began his civilian employment at MWR as a supply technician one year ago when eventually he became the hand receipt holder responsible for all MWR NAF and AFP property and overseer of NAF property sales on eBay.

“I’m ecstatic, honestly and appreciative. Working in support, behind the scenes people don’t really see what you do.  It’s nice to be recognized for the unseen work, even though it is being done,” said Boler.  “I appreciate it.”
