BOSS deep sea fishing trip:

Travel with BOSS to St. Simons Island for a day of deep sea fishing Nov. 18. Register in person by Friday  (Nov. 3), at the Stewart or Hunter Leisure Travel Office. The cost is $125 per person, which includes lunch, bait/tackle, fish cleaning, license and transportation. There are 12 slots available. For more information, call 912-767-9917.

 

Buddies & birdies weekly golf clinic 

Learn the basics of golf to include grip, stance, posture, golf swing and rules of the game during the Buddies & Birdies golf co-ed clinic at 9 a.m. today (Nov. 16) and on the first four Thursdays of each month at Taylors Creek Golf Course.  A different golfing skill is taught at each session. Great for new and experienced golfers, along with those who would like to brush up on their game. Cost is $30 per month, or $15 per session. For more information, call 912-767-2370.  

 

BOSS movie night - Justice League:

BOSS Movie Nights program provides transportation and a cost-reducing way for Stewart/Hunter Active Duty Single Soldiers, Single Soldier Parents and Geo-Bachelors to enjoy the film “Justice League” at Pooler Royal Cinemas on Friday at 6 p.m. Cost of $5 per person includes movie ticket, transportation. Time allowed for participants to eat (at own expense) prior to movie. Space is limited. Register at Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel Office. For more information, call 912-767-9917.

 

Hunter turkey trot 5k walk/run: 

The Hunter Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run will get under way at 10 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 18), from Stephen Douglas and Perimeter Road. The free, fun event is open to Active Duty, Family Members and DOD civilians. Participants who complete the race will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Register on site beginning at 9:30 a.m. All ages welcome. This is a stroller-friendly event. For more information, call 912-315-5078.

 

Long range and turkey shoot at Stewart:

A long range shoot, along with a turkey shoot, will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 18) at Red Cloud Echo Range on Fort Stewart. Open to rifles (up to .50 caliber) only. Cost for long range shoot is $15 per two-hour block. Paper targets 100-500 yards, steel targets at 750 and 1,000 yards. Cost for a chance to win a turkey certificate is $3 per try. Six shooters at a time will participate, with each getting three shots. Closest hole to center wins. Shoot will continue until all turkeys are won. For more information, call 912-435-8205. Free teen babysitting courses 

Free, 16-hour Babysitting Certification Courses for CYS-registered teens ages 13-18 are being offered at both Fort Stewart and Hunter Monday, Nov. 20, and Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The course teaches basic skills necessary to safely care for children. Attendance at both sessions required for certification. Minimum of eight students required per class. Stewart classes will be at Youth Activity Center, building 5655. Hunter classes will be at Youth Services, building 6054. Upon completion, teens have option of being registered on Stewart/Hunter babysitting referral lists at Parent Central Services. Youth activity center outing to Pooler

CYS-registered middle- and high-school students from the Youth Activity Center on Mindoro Loop, building 5655, will take a field trip to Pooler starting at 2 p.m. Nov. 21. Youth will be given a choice of activities, including movies, skating or bowling. Returning at 7 p.m. The cost is $20 per youth, who are asked to register at the center. Grip it and Rip It Junior Golf clinics 

A free “Grip It and Rip It Junior Golf Clinic,” taught by PGA Professional Tommie McArthur, will be held Saturday, Nov. 25 at Hunter Golf Course. The monthly one-hour sessions begin at 9 a.m. and are tailored to introduce youth ages 5-15 to fundamentals of the game of a lifetime. Open to the public.  “Hooked on Golf” instruction at Hunter

Learn about putting, the short game, approach shots and the rules and etiquette of golf from PGA Professional Tommie McArthur in a 90-minute “Hooked on Golf” session from 10:30 a.m. until noon Nov. 25 at Hunter Golf Course.  Session, in a relaxed atmosphere, is for beginners and those who want to improve their golf game. Managed deer/hog hunt at Stewart:  

The final managed deer/hog hunt of the season (for Active Duty Soldiers and Retirees only) will be held at Stewart Dec. 16. Participants will be chosen by lottery drawing at noon Dec. 6. Apply by 2 p.m. Dec. 4. Applicants must be registered with iSportsman before signing up. Register in person only at the Lowcountry Adventure Center, building 8325.  Fee is $25 per person for those selected. Hunt will be held at the Delta or Red Cloud Range Complex, or the B4 Impact Area, depending on training schedules. A game cleaning station is provided. For more information, call 912-435-8205.
