ACS has many great services for Soldiers, spouses and children, yet not everyone knows we are located in five different areas. Stop by today and visit the staff on Stewart in buildings 81, 82, 86, 87 and the SFAC building 4973. The Hunter staff is located in building 1286. You’ll be glad you did. Baby Boot Camp for Dads

The Baby Boot Camp for Dads class that was canceled on the Oct. 26, because of staff training, will be re-offered 9-11 a.m. Nov. 13 at ACS building 82.  For questions, please call 912-767-2882.

 

ACS Play Morning Canceled

The ACS Family Advocacy Play morning will be cancelled Nov. 14 at Hunter Army Airfield and Nov. 16 at Fort Stewart.  The Family Advocacy Staff will be in training.  For questions, please call 912 767-2882.

 

ACS Family Advocacy Program closed  

Due to mandatory staff training, the Family Advocacy Program located in Bldg. #82, Fort Stewart will be closed through Nov. 17.  For questions or concerns, please call 912 767-2882.   The Domestic Violence Victim Advocates Hotline will be operational during this time, please call 912 767-3032.  To report incidents of domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, please call 912 767-0025.  Both numbers will be operational 24 hours/7days a week.

 

ACS Closed Nov. 22 (Date Change) 

ACS will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nov. 22.  Emergency functions such as Victim Advocate and Army Emergency Relief will still be supported, and all services will be available starting again at 1pm that day.  For questions or concerns, please call 912 767-5058.

AFTB Personal Growth and Resilience

Did you know Army Family Team Building is back?   In November, the AFTB Spouse trainers will be conducting a three day seminar/training event on Personal Growth and Resilience. This event is designed using the AFTB training curriculum  and will assist in developing Self Reliance and the ability to cope with everyday stressors that come with Army Life and Deployment. If interested in attending, please contact 912 767-1257 and help us get more of the word out.  Remember, AFTB is Spouses teaching Spouses.

 

Domestic Violence Awareness for holidays

Did you know that Domestic Violence increases during the holidays?  It may progress during the holiday as anger and stressors build.  It is also the time of the year that when the number of children who experience domestic violence are at the highest.  Report domestic violence to keep the cycle from repeating itself!   Contact a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate for more information at 912-767-3032.

 

Rocky's Holiday Express held

Rocky's Holiday Express, coordinated by Fort Stewart Army Community Service, is underway.  This mission is to ensure Soldiers and Families who are unable to give their children gifts for the holidays will be able to do so.  Fort Stewart community members are encouraged to contact ACS to become a donor.  Donors will purchase requested gifts for the children of deserving Soldiers.  Donors must drop off toy purchases prior to Dec. 4 at the Main Post Chapel.  For more information, please call 912 767-3276. 

 

Employment Readiness Round-Up

Join the ACS Employment Readiness Program on Nov. 20 for the Employment Readiness Round-Up.  This comprehensive training event will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with multiple subjects being instructed.  This training is designed to inform people searching for employment, the time tested secrets of the USAJob website in finding the “right job”.  You will also learn tips on the most critical part of the job search process, that being the success in the interview.  Please call 912 767-1518 to register.   

 

Family Readiness Liaison Training

 The Family Readiness Liaison course will be conducted on Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in ACS Bldg. #87.  The training is designed to prepare Soldiers who are appointed as FRLs to assist with the operational, logistical, and administrative aspects of the FRG. As a liaison between the command and the FRG volunteer the FRL needs to know the ins and outs of the FRG and how their role can assist both the command and the volunteers. The course covers: Leadership Management, Volunteer Management, Communication Network, Stability Support and the FRG, Non-Mission Essential Activities, and Resources.  Call 912 767-1257 to register or register at the ACS Eventbrite page.  

 

EFMP Lunch, Learn:  Prematurity Awareness

Army Community Service Exceptional Family Member Program will host a Lunch and Learn event on Nov. 30, from Noon to 1pm, ACS Bldg. #86.  This month’s topic will be Prematurity Awareness.  The EFMP Program will discuss what signs to bring to your Doctor’s attention, how to care for both you and your premature baby.  Call 767 – 5058 to register.  This is a free event.

 

The Amazing Race

Army Community Service will be the host of the very first Installation wide, “Amazing Race” on Jan. 19.  This interactive/fun event is designed for the entire Family and will link individuals or teams to agencies that support deployment and Army Life.  Individual and Team registration will open on 1 Dec by calling 912 767-1257 or register on the ACS Eventbrite page at www.eventbrite.com/o/army-community-service-fort-stewarthunter-aaf-12997030788.  This challenge will be set up to have individuals/teams navigate to multiple locations across the Installation to improve Family Readiness and Resilience.

 

Military child of the year

Operation Homefront is now accepting nominations for 2018 Military Child of the Year. The organization's annual awards recognize six outstanding young people ages 13 to 18. Each of them represent a branch of the armed forces for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life. HR training for supervisors

The Civilian Personnel Advisory Center will host a Human Resource training for supervisor's class, Nov. 14 - 16 at the Army Education Center, Room 243. Update your DEERS information for 2018

Due to the upcoming Enrollment Freeze scheduled for Nov. 22 – Dec. 22 to prepare for the TRICARE plan changes and transition, it is vital that all beneficiaries to include active duty, family members, retirees, reserve and National Guard update their address, phone and family member information in DEERS by calling 1-800-538-9552 or by updating online at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconect.  On post hospitals and clinics will make every effort possible to book all appointment requests during this time, but failure to update your DEERS with recent changes could possibly cause billing issues after the freeze is lifted.

 

Army Selective Service Bonus

The Army is offering a $3K to 12K "kicker bonus" for enlisted Soldiers who are eligible in accordance with Milper Message 17-31. Soldiers must be within the established retention opportunity window (15 months from contractual ETS) and reenlist for a term length of four to six years.
