BOSS reindeer games trivia night

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers holds  Reindeer Games Trivia Night,  tonight at Club Stewart.  Sponsored by Boingo, the event for active duty single soldiers, single parents and geo-bachelors.  It will  be held at Warriors Lounge,  starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 7. The event is free. Teams of two to four people will test their wits and win prizes along the way. Plus, there will be food, door prizes, dart, billiards, table activities and drink specials. Holiday hayride & light festival 

The Holiday Hayride and Light Festival will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9. Outdoor Recreation will bring Holbrook Pond Recreation Area to life with Christmas lights, illuminated decorations and activities for all ages. Holiday scenes and displays light up the campground area trail for the 15 to 20-minute hayrides. Activities include boat rides, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores, time for the children to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the MWR kiddie train and pony rides for children. The Kringle Market, sponsored by FRG's, will provide food sales. Costumed characters will roam the market for photo ops with children. Cost to enter the Holbrook area is $15 per vehicle Dec. 8-9. Cash or credit card. From Dec. 10-25, individuals will be able to drive through the Holbrook area to view the lights from 6-8:30 p.m. each evening. For more information, call 912-435-8205.

 

Family fun time with Santa:

Three opportunities for you to bring the kids and Hang Out With Santa for some Family fun time. In each case, there's no charge to visit with Santa. Fees apply only if you play.

*  Dec. 10, 3-5 p.m., Corkan Recreation Roller Skating; $5, includes skate rental.

* Dec. 11, 3-5 p.m., Stewart Lanes Bowling; $1.50 games and $1.50 shoes.

Santa scramble at Taylors Creek 

Relax and enjoy the Santa Scramble at Taylors Creek Golf Course on Dec. 16. Shotgun start at 10 a.m. Price of $30 for members, $35 for non-members includes cart, green fee, range balls and prizes. Registration continues until Dec. 14. Call 912-767-2370.

 

Santa brunch at Club Stewart:

Purchase tickets early at Club Stewart and save $3 on adult tickets and $1 on each child’s ticket for the Santa Brunch at Club Stewart, scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 17. Prices are $15.95 per adult and $6.45 per child until Dec. 14. After that date, prices are $18.95 for adults, $7.45 for children (ages 5-10). Children four and under eat free. Menu features Southern favorite breakfast items, chef's selection of side dishes, build your own omelet, carving station and variety of excellent desserts. Sign-up begins for FRG bowling league:

Registration for the Family Readiness Group bowling league at Marne Bowling Center has started. Play begins Jan. 4 for the six-week fun league. Three-person teams will represent participating units. Weekly and end-of-league individual and team prizes, such as free use of Corkan Recreation Center for unit functions, will be awarded. The cost of $12.99 per person per night includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, one order of cheese nachos and one refillable soft drink. Register at the Marne Bowling Center. Free holiday PJ dance at youth center

CYS-registered 6th-12th-graders are invited to wear holiday pajamas, hats and socks to the free holiday pajamas dance from 7-10 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Mindoro Loop Youth Center, building 5655. For more information, call 912-767-4491.

 

Become a lifeguard

Now hiring lifeguards for the 2018 Summer Season. Twenty are needed at Fort Stewart and 11 at Hunter Army Airfield. Must be 16 years or older. No experience necessary. Accepted applicants will receive two weeks paid training at $10 per hour and will be certified by the American Red Cross. Basketball, cheerleading sign-ups 

Enroll now at Parent Central Services, building 438 (912-767-2312), to play youth co-ed basketball or be a cheerleader at Fort Stewart. For boys and girls ages 5-17. Registration closes when all slots are filled. Cost for cheer is $45. Cost for basketball is $45 for ages 7-17 and $25 for ages 5-6. Volunteer coaches needed for both basketball and cheer. Transition Summit held:

Connect directly with Human Resource experts and hiring managers Jan. 23-24 starting at 8 a.m. each day, at Club Stewart. 17th annual Vets Christmas Ride

The 17th annual Vets Christmas motorcycle ride will occur come rain, shine, or snow at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, S.C., Sunday, Dec. 10.  Check out last year’s event on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLJfGISOiXA.  Volunteers are needed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to help sort and deliver gifts.
