Long range shoot at Stewart

Long range shoot will be held Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Red Cloud Echo Range on Fort Stewart.  Open to rifles (up to .50 caliber) only. Cost is $15 per two-hour block. Paper targets 100-500 yards, steel targets at 750 and 1,000 yards. For more information, call 435-8205. All payments cash only. (The shoot is subject to range control and training schedules.) To reach Red Cloud Echo Range, take Highway 119 north. Range is on the right.

 

Fort Stewart lacrosse clinic

Lowlax Savannah will be conducting a free lacrosse clinic on post through MWR’s Youth Sports & Fitness on Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., May 9, at the Youth Sports and Fitness field complex. The clinic will be for boys and girls age 7-12 at any experience level. It will be an introductory, non-contact, clinic. The only equipment needed will be sticks and cleats. A limited number of both boys and girls sticks will be available for use. For more information or to reserve a slot, call 767-5079.

 

CYS offers summer camp opportunities

Stewart/Hunter Child and Youth Services is offering an array of Summer Camp opportunities for first- to fifth-graders registered with CYS. Themes such as All About Me, Young Chef Academy, International Week, Exploring Under the Sea and Super Soaking Week are offered. Camps also include educational and fun field trips. Register today. Marne trail bass tourney continues

The third of five catch-and-release Marne Trail Bass Tournaments will be held at 6:30 a.m. May 19 at Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart. Cash prizes are $250 for first-place (total weight, five-fish maximum per person) and $100 for the largest bass. Door prizes awarded after weigh-in at 11 a.m. Fees are $25 for Active Duty Soldiers, Retirees, Family Members and youth (15 years old and younger); $35 for the civilian community. Season’s remaining tournaments will be held Sept. 22 at Glisson Pond and Oct. 13 at Metz Pond. Angler of the Year award of $400 will be awarded at October event.

 

Sunday family fun day at Hunter golf

Enjoy a fun afternoon of golf with your Family at a discounted rate every Sunday after 1 p.m. at Hunter Golf Course. Free greens fees for junior golfers (ages 5-15) with a paid parent’s greens and golf cart fees. For more information, call 315-9115. 

 

SKIES offers cheer, tumbling classes

School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration & Skills is now offering competitive cheer and tumbling classes for youth 5-18 years old at both Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. Participants must be enrolled in Child and Youth Services. The cost for competitive cheer is $50-55 per month and the cost for tumbling is $45-50 per month. Spring carnival at Donovan Field

Spring Carnival, with rides, food and fun for young and old alike, is coming to Donovan Field at Fort Stewart May 3-6. Free to enter (open gate access through Gate 3 on Old Sunbury Road). Public welcome.  Ride tickets, games, food and drinks available for purchase at Carnival. Hours are: Thursday, May 3, 5-10 p.m.; May 4, 5 p.m.-midnight; Saturday, May 5, noon-midnight; and Sunday, May 6, 1-7 p.m. For more information, visit StewartSpringCarnival.com.

 

Kids Bowl free at Marne, Stewart lanes

Sign up at KidsBowlFree.com for the Kids Bowl Free program at Marne Bowling Center, building 402, and Stewart Bowling Center, building 450. Each registered child ages 0-15 can bowl two free games a day Monday-Friday (not available on holidays). Shoe rental is $2.50. No charge to register online for free games. Program runs from April-September. Family passes, at discount prices, available so parents can bowl with their children. 'The Springs' Water Splash Park opens

‘The Springs’ Water Splash Park at Cypress Creek opens for a new season May 19. The park, featuring 11 water spray features, is open to children up to 12 years old. Cost is $2.50 per person. (All persons entering the Splash Park gated area will be charged.) Children 2 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Military or DoD ID required. Hours of operation are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday-Monday. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Waterproof diapers (“swimmers”) required for children not potty-trained. Family Splash Park season passes (up to 6 Family Members) cost $80. Family Splash Park/Mini Golf season passes (also up to six Family members) cost $140. Powerlifting, bench press competition

You’ve put in the time, the effort and the discipline. Now, see how you stack up against others in the Powerlifting and Bench Press Competition starting at 9 a.m. May 19 at Newman Fitness Center. Cost is $30 for entries received by May 4 and $40 after that. Program will consist of squat, bench press, and dead lifts. Each competitor will be given three lifts per event, for a total of nine lifts. Top three lifts will be combined, for a total weight lifted, to determine final place of competitors. Cup of the Month Golf Tournament 

The season’s final Taylors Creek Golf Course Cup of the Month Golf Tournament will be held May 19. The stroke play event is open to all golfers and the public is welcome. Register in advance at the course or by calling 767-2370. Briefing at 11:45 a.m. and tee times start at noon. Awards to cup winners in Open, Women’s, Senior (50-59) and Super Senior (60 and older) divisions. Cost is $40 for members, $45 for non-members and includes greens fee, cart, one range ball token, drinks and prizes.  

 

America’s Armed Forces Kids run 2018 

Non-competitive runs, part of a national event in support of Armed Forces Day, start at 9 a.m. May 19 at Jordan Gym (building 608) on Stewart, and at Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road on Hunter. Youth aged 5-13 are invited to participate. Free. T-Shirts awarded to all youth participants who complete the run. Ages 5-6 run .5 of a mile; ages 7-8 run one mile; ages 9-13 two miles. Kayak trip launches river adventure

MWR’s Outdoor Recreation is offering a summer of river adventure opportunities, including four kayak trips, two river tubing trips and a white water rafting trip. The adventure begins May 12 with a kayak trip on a Georgia waterway. Kayakers will start their trip at 7:30 a.m. at the Low Country Adventure Center, building 8325 (in the Holbrook Pond area). Return about 2 p.m. Kayaks provided (no personal kayaks allowed) at a cost of $25 per person. Bring snack and drinks to consume on the water, and insect repellent.  Savannah Scottish Games

Join us for the 42nd Annual Savannah Scottish Games on Saturday, May 5 at Bethesda Academy Campus, 9520 Ferguson Ave, Savannah. Gates open at 9 a.m. with opening ceremony at noon. 

The Savannah Games are the fourth oldest Scottish games in the Southeastern United States.  Come join a grand celebration of Scottish culture with competition, entertainment, shopping, children events, plus food and refreshments for the entire family!
